About the Atelier de la Cosarde
My name is Cécile Boccon-Gibod Besse, and my love for handmade things has been with me ever since. Originally from a small village in Cantal, surrounded by nature and inspiring scents, I grew up with a taste for handcrafted objects. My interest in utilitarian objects was born during my studies in applied arts at the Lycée Saint-Géraud in Aurillac. However, my career path initially led me towards graphic design, before I decided to return to what I am deeply passionate about: manual work.
Ceramics became the obvious choice.
I love the idea of starting with a simple ball of clay to create an object that is both beautiful and functional. After purchasing a lathe and obtaining my vocational certificate in ceramics, I set up my workshop in L'Haÿ-les-Roses, in the Val-de-Marne region, on Rue de la Cosarde. This is how the Atelier de la Cosarde was born.
In my workshop, I create unique pieces, utilitarian or ornamental, sometimes both at the same time.
Each creation is carefully crafted in stoneware or porcelain and fired at high temperatures to ensure its strength and durability.
The utility pieces are suitable for everyday use: they are dishwasher and microwave safe. All the enamels I use are guaranteed lead-free.
